Dale Rochford was an accomplished football player and pole vaulter for BH-BL Central School District. In track and field, Dale was a two-time winner of the William F. Eddy meet in the pole vault. He was a gold medalist at the 1985 Empire State Games, and was the runner-up at the 1985 Indoor New York State and 1985 Eastern States Indoor Championship Meets. He placed first at the 1985 Suburban Council and Section 2 Championship indoor and outdoor meets in the pole vault, and currently holds the indoor and outdoor school records in the event after over 27 years. Dale also won the 1985 West Point Invitational, Dutchmen Games, and RPI Invitational Meets.
For football, Dale scored 12 points in the 12-6 win in 1985 over Shenendehowa, the first time BH-BL beat them in 15 years. He intercepted Shen’s final drive, then caught the winning pass with five seconds left in the game. He was the leading receiver with 31.1 yards per catch, and led the team with its first undefeated (8-0) Suburban Council record in 19 years. Dale was named the Saratogian/Tri-County News Dream Team member for offense in 1985, and was also named to the Times Union All-Star Team for offense as well as the Schenectady Gazette All-Area Team for defense.
Dale graduated from Union College with a BA in Economics.
Dale would like to give special mention to his mother who juggled work while raising six kids and teaching us to be decent people, look out for others, and not take life too seriously, and to his dad, watching from the hereafter, who never missed a game and would want to be here more than anyone. He relished in the accomplishments of his family.
Dale is a Vice-President and Investment Officer for Wells
Fargo Advisors in Portsmouth, NH. He lives with his wife and
three kids in North Hampton, NH.
