T.J. Wright was on the varsity wrestling team for six years under coach Tim Koch. He had a total of 157 wins, which is third on the All Time BH-BL Wrestling Team list. He is also third on the All Time list with 82 Career Pins. As a junior, T.J. was the Section 2 Champion at 155 pounds, with a 32-3 record. In his senior year T.J. was the Section 2 Champion at 177 pounds, and earned 2nd place in the New York State Championship Meet. His record during his senior year was 30-1, and he won the DeMeo Award that year. T.J. was the Most Outstanding Wrestler on the BH-BL team in 1986, 1987 and 1988. T.J. was the Empire State Games Greco-Roman Wrestling Champion in 1987, as well as the World Youth Greco-Roman Champion. He placed third at the Junior National Greco-Roman Championships that year, coming back in 1988 to win the tournament.
T.J. is a West Point graduate where he wrestled for four
years. He was an NCAA Division I Championship Qualifier in 1990
and 1991. T.J. was the University National Champion in
Greco-Roman in 1990 and 1991, and was a University World Team
Member for Greco-Roman in 1990. He won the Arvin Memorial Award
and the DeMeo Collegiate Awards
for his wrestling accomplishments.
T.J. married Peggy Lee, and they have four children: Jackson, Tanner, Kendall and Camer-on. He retired after 22 years of service as a US Army Lieutenant Colonel, and is currently the Director, Special Programs for Kord Technologies in Huntsville, Alabama.
