Charlton Heights student, who have been busy reading as part of the school's annual Pick A Reading Partner (PARP) program, are in for a big treat next month when Mad Science Academy book series author Matt McElligott visits CHES.
A visit from McElligott on Friday, Feb. 9 is the grand finale PARP event. He'll be at the school all day speaking to students about the process of writing and illustrating, how to research a topic to write about, and he'll also be signing books.
Additionally, the school's top summer readers who logged oodles of minutes of reading will also be recognized at the PARP event for their hard work and dedication to reading. Congratulations to:
McElligott visited CHES in 2016, his Mad Scientist Academy series, about a school where unusual students learn cool facts about science, had just been launched. The first title was Mad Scientist Academy; the Dinosaur Disaster. Since then, two more titles have been added: The Weather Disaster and The Space Disaster. Each of these is a picture book with illustrations done in graphic novel/comic book style and is appropriate for all students K-5. Also available for purchase and signing that day are several picture books and a couple of chapter books from his Benjamin Franklinstein series.
