for 2010:
Budget & Bus
Proposition pass
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake residents approved the
proposed 2010-11 school budget of $53.4 million by a
passing percentage of 63 percent at the district election on May 18, 2010.
A
proposition to borrow up to $350,000 to purchase seven
school buses was also approved. Incumbent Robert Speck
was defeated in an extremely close race for two Board of
Education seats,
and newcomers William Farmer and Lee-Ann Mertzlufft were elected.

Voter turnout was high, nearly a record
for our school district.
There were a total of 3,063 residents voting,
including 49 who voted by absentee ballot. In the last five years,
turnout for the annual budget vote has ranged from 2,000
to 2,700 voters. The highest voter
turnout at BH-BL was 3,131 voters in 2003.
