2011-12 Board Meeting Schedule

BH-BL Board of Education meetings are open to the public, and residents are urged to attend. The Board generally holds business meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month at 7:30 p.m. in the various schools.

Board Finance Committee meetings are often held at 7:00 p.m. on the other Tuesday evenings, particularly in the February - April period.

Student Health & Well Being

School nurses, social workers, teachers and other staff will report on data related to BH-BL students’ mental and physical health. What proactive measures are schools taking to reduce serious health issues such as depression and obesity?

Members of this district committee will present the results of research into the best educational practices for implementing BH-BL’s 21st Century Framework for Learning. What are the implications for BH-BL infrastructure, technology and use of space as we work to infuse 21st Century skills and themes into the curriculum?

Culture : Team : Data Initiatives

What measurements do we have showing full implementation of Culture : Team : Data at BH-BL? Culture: Is the idea that all children can achieve at high levels taken literally in our schools? Team: Do staff teams meet frequently and raise achievement the way that research shows is possible when working together? Data: How do we focus on student results and outcomes to drive improvements?

On Feb. 28, Charlton Heights, Pashley and Stevens Elementary staff will report on Culture : Team : Data accomplishments and needs of their grade levels and teams, as well as planned future steps.

Student Achievement Reports: Elementary, Middle & High School

What data do we have to indicate that BH-BL pupils are progressing and achieving at high levels? How is data utilized for continuous improvement at the classroom, department and building levels? This report will focus on both state and local achievement data.

Technolgy Status Report

An overview of instructional and infrastructure issues related to classroom use of technology. How are we currently preparing students with real-life experiences and expanding their learning opportunities through technology? What immediate and long range improvements are planned?

Recognition of Outstanding Pupils & Retiring Staff

Meeting starts at 7:00 pm.  School principals and Board members will recognize outstanding pupils from each school as well as staff who retired during 2011-12.
