Students should register now
for Fall Driver Education classes
Registration for the fall Driver
Education classes is now available at the high school
main office. Classes will begin on Monday,
September 17 and run through January 11, 2013.
Driver Education is open ONLY to high school
students who are Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake residents,
who are age 16 or older, and who have their New York
State Learner's Permit or Driver's License.
Students are accepted based on their grade, seniors
first, and/or by lottery draw if there are not enough
seats for all in a grade.
Enrolled students receive 24 hours of
classroom instruction, 18 hours of in-car observation,
and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction. Attendance
at all sessions is mandatory to meet state time requirements. No make-up classes will
be scheduled for missed classroom or driving time.
Parent/guardian assistance is needed to provide
the student with at least
20 hours of supervised driving time in the family car.
Upon successful completion of this
course, students will be issued an MV285 "Blue Card"
allowing them to obtain a senior license at age
17 and an insurance card to be presented to the family's
insurance company to obtain any applicable premium
discounts.
Cost of the program is $300 plus a
$3 registration fee. In addition, all students must
purchase a textbook for $40
-- which will be available for purchase at the first
class session on September 17. (Checks for these
fees should be made payable to "BH-BL Schools.")

registration form,

high school main office by September 13 along with a check for $303 and the student's
drivers license or permit.
