Activities & Clubs for Middle School Pupils
Most of the student clubs and activities below meet during Activity Period after school of Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and /or Thursdays. There is a second condensed bus run home on these three days per week after Activity Period so that students can enjoy the wide range of activities offered at the O'Rourke Middle School. For more information on any of the activities below, contact the advisor listed.

Art Club:  Mrs. Johnson & Mrs. McDonnell - Meets Thursdays, all year in the advisor's Art Room to complete art projects.

Books for Lunch:  Mrs. Rizzo - Meets all year in the school library. Exciting discussions take place on current and classic literary works.

Card Club: Mr. Ahern - Meets Wednesdays, all year in room 124 to play and enjoy a variety of card games (Ughio, Magic, etc.).

Chamber Strings Club:  Mrs. Walker - Meets Tuesdays, 1/2 year in room 132 for enjoyment and skill development.

Chess Club:  Mr. Barton & Mr. York - Meetings will be announced and will take place in Room 134.

Drama Club:  Mrs. Rayome & Mrs.Reeves and a Cast of Thousands meets November - March to prepare and present the school musical.

French Club:  Mrs. Kirkwood - Meets once a month in room 227 for French cultural activities.

German Club:  Mrs. Wolf - Meets once a month in room 105 for German cultural activities.

Golf Club:  Mr. Metz -Meets on Wednesdays in the Spring in room 126. Learn the finer points of playing golf.

Green Thumb Club:  Mrs. DiCristofaro - Meets in the spring in the school courtyard to enjoy planting, composting & greenhouse work.

Literary Arts Journal:  Ms. Santoro.  Meets in the spring in room 225 to publish student art and writing in journal format.

Middle School Jazz Ensemble:  Mr. Tetlak - Meets on Tuesdays all year in room 130.  Jazz band for selected students only. Inquiries should be made of Mr. Tetlak.

National Junior Honor Society:  Mrs. Brown & Mrs. Rizzo. Meets all year in the school library. A community service organization for 8th graders meeting eligibility criteria. More information about the NJHS. Service Record Form in printable format.

Odyssey of the Mind: PTA - Students work with coaches to compete in the Odyssey of the Mind competitions.

Science Club:  Mrs. McCarthy - Meeting dates to be announced. Students explore a variety of math, science and technology competitions and projects.
Select Chorus - Gr. 7 & 8: Mrs. Reeves - Meets Wednesdays all year in room 301 to sing and perform in the community.

Ski Club:  Mr. Metz - Meets in the winter in room 126 to plan and enjoy ski trips to local ski areas.

Spanish Club:  Mrs. Mahoney - Spanish Club meets throughout the year to celebrate cultural holidays and to create crafts. Meetings are in Room 207 and will be announced.

Stock Market Club:  Mr. Ahern. Meets in the spring in room 124 to learn about and "invest" in the stock market.

Student Council:  Mrs. Sprenger - Meets all year in room 123.  School student government organization.

Tennis Club:  Mrs. Layton - Meets in fall & spring on the tennis courts for tennis instruction and play.

Yearbook:  Mrs. Krushelnytsky - For 8th Graders onlyMeets all year in room 206 to publish the school's yearbook, for selected 8th graders only.
