Hills-Ballston Lake is
pleased to announce the launch of their new "School
News Notifer" (SNN), a system designed to keep
parents and residents more in touch with key
happenings in the school district.
SNN is an
opt-in system where individuals can sign up to
receive e-mail alerts from the district
administration when specific things occur, such as
emergency school closings or delays. The district is
offering 3 alerts. Users can choose to receive any
or all of these alerts, and can unsubscribe at any
time.
How do I sign up?
Go to the
SNN homepage and create your profile. You will
be asked to provide your name and email address, and
to create your own password. Once you create your
profile, you will be asked to select which of our 3
alerts you would like to receive. Once you select
your alerts and click subscribe, you will be all
set! (You can change your selected alerts at
any time.)
If you wish to
receive alerts at more than one email address (for
instance, one for each parent and one for work and
one for home), simply create an additional profile
for each email address desired.
Note: Your
email address will be kept confidential, and SNN
pages are also encrypted to protect your privacy.
What alerts can I receive?
Presently the
district is offering 3 alerts:
 |
Emergency school closings and
delays: Find out via email when
any of our five schools is closed
unexpectedly due to severe weather or other
emergency. Alerts will also go out when
classes are on a one-hour or two-hour delay
in the morning, or when ALL afterschool or
evening activities are cancelled due to bad
weather. (Note: in the very rare event that
schools need to close early, this alert
could also be beneficial for parents who
monitor their email at work.) |
 |
Board of Education Budget Development
Announcement: Sign up for this
notification if you are interested in
following the process of creating the next
school budget. Emails will go out to let you
know when new information about the budget
has been posted on our website or to
announce an upcoming community budget forum. |
 |
Change in Sex Offender Residency: Find
out via email whenever our school district
is notified by the police that a registered
sex offender has moved into or changed
residency in our district. This is a rare
occurrence, but signing up for this
notification will allow you to share
whatever limited information we receive from
either state or town police. (Note: you can
also find information on sex offenders at
any time on the
New York State Division of Criminal Justice
Services web pages.) |
If you have more questions, please
go to our
SNN homepage or SNN
Frequently Asked Questions page. |
