Support available to help students and staff cope with grief from the death of a student

The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake school district is deeply saddened by the death of 6th grade O'Rourke Middle School student Lane Rowe on the afternoon of Monday, October 1, in an automobile accident.

The Middle School crisis team of administrators, counselors, psychologists and teachers has been activated and will be helping students talk and share their feelings as they work through this difficult time.

"Lane had a warm smile and a sweet disposition," says middle school principal Colleen Wolff. "He was well liked by teachers and students. His presence will be greatly missed, and our thoughts and prayers go out to support his family."

Below are resources with more information for parents:

A bank account has been set up for anyone who wishes to support Lane's family in this tragic time. Contributions can be made to "The Lane Rowe Memorial Fund" in care of the Ballston Spa National Bank.

Contributions can be dropped off in person at any branch of the Ballston Spa National Bank or mailed to the bank at PO Box 70, Ballston Spa, NY 12020. Checks should be made out to the Lane Rowe Memorial Fund.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, at the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church. There are no calling hours.
