OM Competition background

Each team was comprised of five to seven student members, a parent volunteer coach and one to two additional parent assistant coaches.

The teams were divided by divisions, grades 3 through 5 in DI; grades 6 through 8 in DII; grades 9-12 in DIII; and the Primary division is for grades K through 2.

Division I, II and III teams had a choice of five different problems to solve, each from a different category (vehicle, technical, the classics, balsa wood, and theatrical) and teams competed within their division solving one of the problems in an 8-minute skit. There was an additional spontaneous component each team participated in.
