Congratulations to the Stevens Elementary School Odyssey of the Mind team that took first place for problem #3 at the Regional Competition held on Saturday, March 1. The students will now advance to the state competition held on Saturday, April 12 at Binghamton State University.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake had 11 teams competing this year in the Regional Odyssey of the Mind Competition with many teams placing in second and third. Congratulations to the following teams for their hard work and dedication.
Each team was comprised of five to seven student members, a parent volunteer coach and one to two additional parent assistant coaches.
The teams were divided by divisions, grades 3 through 5 in DI; grades 6 through 8 in DII; grades 9-12 in DIII; and the Primary division is for grades K through 2.
Division I, II and III teams had a choice of five different problems to solve, each from a different category (vehicle, technical, the classics, balsa wood, and theatrical) and teams competed within their division solving one of the problems in an 8-minute skit. There was an additional spontaneous component each team participated in.
