BH-BL High School Music Department earns Festival Sweepstakes Award for "Most Outstanding Total Program"

BH-BL rakes in 18 awards at WorldStrides Heritage Music Performance Festival; three students receive outstanding awards

During the Awards Ceremony at the WorldStrides Heritage Music Performance Festival in Williamsburg, Virginia, held April 4 to 5, 2014, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School was called to the stage 18 times for outstanding musical performances by the Concert Choir and Select Jazz Choir, directed by Mr. Bradley Gregg; the Orchestra, directed by Mrs. Karen Russell; and the Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble, directed by Mr. Peter Giroux.

A list of the awards is below:

  • Concert Choir: First place with Silver Rating.
  • Select Jazz Choir: Gold Rating, Most Outstanding Choral Group of Festival, Adjudicator's Award for high score level
  • Certificate of Excellence Invitation to future Gold Invitational Festival
  • Orchestra: First place with Silver Rating, Most Outstanding Orchestra of Festival.
  • Concert Band: First place with Gold Rating, Most Outstanding Band of Festival, Adjudicator's Award for high score level
  • Certificate of Excellence Invitation to future Gold Invitational Festival, Festival Instrumental Sweepstakes Award with the Jazz Ensemble for highest combined score of two instrumental groups from the same school, Maestro Award for outstanding soloist Lauren Brooksby
  • Jazz Ensemble: First place with Gold Rating, Maestro Award for outstanding soloist Zachary DeLeonardo, Maestro Award for outstanding soloist Adam Frewin, Maestro Award for outstanding soloist Steven Spiewak
