Congratulations to Michael and Robert Kirsty, BH-BL music students, who were selected to perform in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Conference All-State Symphony Orchestra at the historic Eastman Theather in Rochester on Sunday, Dec. 8.
Michael Kirsty, who plays the cello, and Robert Kirsty, who plays trumpet, will join other talented musicians from across New York State for three days of music making under the baton of guest conductor David Allen Miller of the Albany Symphony Orchestra.
The Kirsty brothers were selected based on the results of their NYSSMA solo performance last March at Bethlehem Central Schools. Conference All-State ensembles are selected from the top scoring performers on the highest difficulty level of solo literature for their respective instruments.
This will be Michael Kirsty's second trip to Rochester to perform in an All-State ensemble having been selected to the All-State String Orchestra in 2012.
Robert Kirsty is making his first appearance with an All-State group.
Older brother Steven Kirsty, a 2011 graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, performed two consecutive years at Conference All-State with the All-State Jazz Ensemble.
Congratulations and good luck to the Kirsty brothers!
