At a recent Glenville Town Board meeting, Mr. Semon's Participation in Government students Erin Sausville, Aubrey Kamppila and Lisa Humphrey were recognized by VFW Post 4660 for their successful participation in the annual VFW Voice of Democracy contest. The students placed first, second and third, respectively, and were presented with a medal, certificate and a modest cash award.
Each year nearly 40,000 high school students from across the country enter the VFW’s Voice of Democracy audio-essay competition to win a share of $2.2 million in educational scholarships and incentive awards at each competition level--local, state and national. The national scholarship prize is $30,000.
Locally, 45 students participated in the contest. The three BH-BL students will now move forward to the New York State VFW Department review process.
Congratulations and good luck to Erin, Aubrey and Lisa.
