For nearly 20 years, BH-BL's Family & Consumer Sciences Department has operated a preschool--Kids Korner--each spring at the high school.
Kids Korner is a learning lab planned and implemented, under a teacher's direction, by seniors enrolled in the college-level Child Psychology & Development class. These students have taken the prerequisite course, Child Studies, and are interested in attending college next year to pursue careers working with children. These include majoring in areas such as early childhood education, elementary/special education, psychology, and pre med, to name a few.
Kids Korner is designed for four year-old children who are toilet trained and ready to experience a supportive and enriching preschool environment. The high school students work very closely with the preschoolers and develop a wonderful relationship with them.
The preschool operates one day per week (alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays) from March 4 to May 19, from 10 a.m. until noon.
The faculty and staff at BH-BL are offered the first opportunity for enrollment in our preschool. Remaining openings are available to other community members.
Our Kids Korner program offers a valuable experience for both our high school students and the preschoolers. For the last several years, we have students in the Child Psychology & Development course who attended Kids Korner as preschoolers!
The maximum number of preschoolers we can accommodate is 12. Therefore, if you are interested or would like additional information, please contact Danielle Manning at firstname.lastname@example.org no later Thursday, February 12.
