Every school district in the state has been asked by the state Education Department to conduct abbreviated NYS field tests in English Language Arts (ELA), math and science over the next month.
Field tests are 30-minute sample exams that are used to create next year’s state exams. The field tests include portions of the questions or essays included on the full-length exam. The results are not factored into students’ grades. Parents may refuse to have their child(ren) participate in the fields test.
On Friday, May 8 the grade 8 science field test will be administered to students. Those students who are participating in the field trip to Montreal and students taking biology will not be given the exam.
BH-BL will be administering grade 4 and 5 ELA exams to students at Charlton Heights; grades 4 and 5 math tests to students at Stevens; grade 5 ELA test to students at Pashley, grade 8 science exams at the middle school and Living Environment, PS/Earth Science, and Alg.2/Trigonometry at the high school.
Elementary field tests will be given between June 1 and June 10, and high school field tests will be administered mid June.
If you have questions about the field test administration, please contact your child’s principal or Maryellen Symer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
