Does your child like Legos? Robots? We have the perfect activity for him or her that combines the two! Coming this school year, BH-BL will have two parent-run FIRST Lego League (FLL) teams!
FIRST Lego League introduces younger students to real-world engineering challenges by building Lego-based robots to complete tasks on a thematic playing surface. FLL teams, guided by their imaginations and adult coaches, discover exciting career possibilities and, through the process, learn to make positive contributions to society.
The teams are open to students in grades 4 through 8, or ages 9 to 14. Team members cannot exceed the maximum age on January 1 of the year the challenge is released, which is August 2014. [DETAILS]
There are nine spots open for these teams. To be fair, the spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The deadline for signing up for the teams is Monday, July 28.
Students will need to make a commitment to meet regularly to prepare for the Lego competition. Times, dates and locations will be determined after the teams are completely assembled.

Not sure what FIRST Lego League is all about? Don't worry, there will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Red Room at the BH-BL High School, 88 Lakehill Road, Burnt Hills.
To sign up for FIRST Lego League, please contact BH-BL Community Liaison Dacey Bonney at firstname.lastname@example.org or 399-9141, ext. 85011.
Organizers are also wondering if there is any interest in a
Junior FIRST Lego League in any of the elementary schools.
Parents will need to be coaches, but organizers can help them
create teams. Interested? Contact Dacey Bonney.
