At it’s Oct. 7 meeting, the board of education unanimously approved the appointment of Mark Tooker as the new BH-BL varsity boys basketball coach.
Coach Tooker, who has been a physical education teacher at BH-BL for the past 18 years, will be leading the BH-BL Spartans in the 2014-15 season. In addition to his long career in athletics, Tooker has more than 10 years of coaching experience and is not new to coaching BH-BL basketball.
Tooker coached BH-BL JV boys basketball from 1997 to 2005 and again in 2007; he coached BH-BL freshman and JV soccer and baseball; and, prior to coming to BH-BL he coached at Argyle and Hadley-Luzerne Central Schools. Additionally, he coached various youth and recreational athletic teams in Saratoga and Wilton when his children were younger.
Coach Tooker lives in Saratoga with his wife and four children. He holds a BS in Physical Education from SUNY Brockport and a master’s degree in Educational Administration and Leadership from SUNY Albany.
“I’m excited to get back on the basketball court and return to coaching a sport I love,” says Tooker. “I’m also looking forward to meeting and working with our athletes and being part of a stellar athletic program.”
“We are pleased to have Coach Tooker as our new varsity
basketball coach,” says Athletic Director Joe Scalise. “He has
the experience and motivation that is needed to keep our
basketball program thriving.”
