At its Dec. 9 meeting, the BH-BL board of education appointed Jennifer Bradt to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of long-time member Elizabeth Herkenham.
Bradt will serve on the board until June 30, 2015 when her appointment will expire. To remain on the board, Bradt will have to run for a three-year term in the May 19 school board elections. There will be two open seats this coming election.
Bradt, a BH-BL graduate, lives in Glenville with her husband and twin six year olds.
Bradt has worked in the field of education in a teaching capacity for the past 10 years and is currently the childcare director at the Greater Glenville YMCA where she designs and oversees numerous after-school activities and events for elementary school children and families.
Over the years Bradt has been highly involved in the BH-BL School District and community, most recently as the Pashley Elementary School PTA President and the Burnt Hills Business Professional Association Board Secretary. Upon her new appoint, Bradt has taken a leave of absence from her role as PTA president in an effort to dedicate her time to the BH-BL board of education.
Bradt holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction
from the University of Phoenix and a bachelor’s degree in
elementary education and psychology from Russell Sage. She also has
received her NYS certification in grades PreK-6.
