School leaders and principals are excited to welcome construction crews into two BH-BL elementary schools this June to begin renovations. To ensure there is enough time to properly vacate the classrooms that will be impacted by the construction, the elementary school year will now end one day earlier.
The last day of school for students in grades K-5 is now Wednesday, June 22. It will remain a full day for elementary students. Any changes to events or activities planned for the original last half day of school will be communicated with parents through their children’s classroom teachers and/or school principal.
It’s a busy but thrilling month as the district gears up to move forward with Phase 2B of the voter-approved $34.2 million renovations project. Along with the construction of the new STEAM addition at the high school, Phase 2B includes renovations at Pashley and Charlton Heights Elementary Schools. The work that will be done at both schools includes the construction of a workroom/small group learning spaces, the installation of modern fire alarm and public address systems, and 21st-century classroom improvements including new ceilings, new flooring, new lighting, new heating/ventilation units, and additional power outlets.
Work at both elementary schools will begin June 27 and is expected to be completed in the fall of the 2016-17 school year.
