Confirmed Case of COVID-19 at BH-BL Transportation Department

School officials were notified this afternoon of a confirmed positive COVID-19 case of a staff member in our transportation department. The individual transported Charlton Heights, Stevens, O’Rourke Middle and BH-BL High School students to school today. Our COVID-19 Coordinators have been in close contact with officials from the Saratoga County Department of Health to coordinate contact tracing. Parents have already been notified by their child’s school if mandatory quarantine is necessary. Parents are also being notified if this impacts their children’s transportation needs.

All individuals placed on mandatory quarantine are strongly encouraged to follow these quarantine guidelines from the DOH. The confirmed staff member is currently in quarantine for the required time and will not return to the district until cleared by the Department of Health. This notification is part of our commitment to keep you informed during these uncertain times. However, please know that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other privacy laws restrict district officials from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. Therefore, we cannot identify by name anyone who has tested positive.

We will continue to work closely with our local Departments of Health and we will follow their guidance on how to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment. We cannot emphasize enough that we must all remain vigilant and  follow the guidelines outside of school, this includes limiting group gatherings, practicing good hygiene, wearing masks and following social distance guidelines.
