District Adds Half Days for Educational Planning & Sustainability Purposes

Be Sure to Update Your Calendars

After meeting with faculty and staff, and assessing ongoing professional development needs related to in-person, hybrid, and remote learning, district leaders have decided to modify the half day schedule in November and December in order to incorporate additional professional development and educational planning opportunities for staff.

“In order to sustain the level of  instruction being delivered this year in a partially and fully remote learning environment, additional technology-based and other related professional development opportunities would be beneficial,” says Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction David Collins.

As such, school leaders expanded a couple existing K-5 half days to include all grades and added two additional half days. Please update your calendars to reflect these changes:

  • Friday, Nov. 6: Add K-12 Half Day of School.
  • Thursday, Nov. 12: Change existing K-5 half day to K-5 Half Day with Remote Learning. Classes will be held fully remote for all K-5 students in the morning, and parent-teacher virtual conferences will be held in the afternoon. More information to follow from your child’s principal.
  • Friday, Dec. 4: Expand the previously scheduled 6-12 half day to include all grades–K-12 Half Day of School.
  • Tuesday, Dec. 15: Add K-12 Half Day of School.
