Driver Ed Applications due June 6

Summer 2019 Driver Education applications must be completed by a parent/guardian and submitted by Thursday, June 6.

After the application is submitted, students must bring a $300 check (made payable to BH-BL Schools) to the main office, along with their permit/license.

The program will run from Monday, July 1 through Friday, August 9.

For more information about the program, please see the Summer Driver Education letter below.

Dear Parent/Guardian and Student:

Our Summer Driver Education program will begin on Monday, July 1, 2019 and will end on Friday, August 9, 2019. Enrolled students receive 24 hours of classroom instruction, 18 hours of in-car observation and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory to meet the State time requirements. In this short time, we cannot hope to make the student an accomplished driver, so we will need your assistance in providing at least 20 hours of supervised driving time for your son/daughter in your family car. An additional 30 hours will be needed prior to obtaining their senior license at age 17. A student-driving log will be provided for you to initial at home. We require that all students have a valid New York State Learner’s Permit or Driver’s License (a copy is required with registration application). Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be issued an MV285 “Blue Card” allowing the student to obtain a senior license at age 17 and an insurance card to be presented to your insurance company to obtain any applicable premium discounts.

Please complete the online registration form by Thursday, June 6th. Tuition for the course is $300 (checks only please, made payable to BH-BL Schools). Checks must be submitted to the Main Office by the deadline of Thursday, June 6. Students will be accepted based on their grade, seniors first, juniors next, and then by birthdates.

The first class for all students will be held on Monday, July 1st at 7 a.m. with the instructors in the Spartan Center at the High School to discuss the Driver Education program expectations and procedures. Class assignments and the remainder of the schedule will be discussed at this time so attendance is mandatory for all students. Please be prepared as you may be driving on that day. Students may check the student news window by the main office regarding the program on Friday, June 7.

Your help and cooperation is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at 518-399-9141, ext. 83302.
