Driver Education program registration due Jan. 12
Program runs from Jan. 29 to to June 1
If your child is interested in participating in the BH-BL High School’s Driver Education program, please fill out and sign the registration form and return it to the main office by Friday, Jan. 12. Tuition for the course is $300. (We can only accept checks. Please make them payable to BH-BL Schools). Students will be accepted into the program based on their grade, with seniors first, juniors next, and then by birthdates.
The spring Driver Education program begins Monday, Jan. 29 and ends Friday, June 1. Enrolled students receive 24 hours of classroom instruction, 18 hours of in-car observation, and six hours of behind the wheel instruction. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory to meet the state time requirements.
In this short time, we cannot hope to make the student an accomplished driver, so we will need your assistance in providing at least 20 hours of supervised driving time for your son/daughter in your family car. An additional 30 hours will be needed prior to obtaining their senior license at age 17. A student-driving log will be provided for you to initial at home. We require that all students have a valid New York state Learner’s Permit or Driver’s License (a copy is required with registration application).
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be issued an MV285 “Blue Card” allowing the student to obtain a senior license at age 17 and an insurance card to be presented to your insurance company to obtain any applicable premium discounts.
The first class for all students is Monday, Jan. 29 at 2:30 p.m. with the instructors to discuss the Driver Education program expectations and procedures. Class assignments and the remainder of the schedule will be discussed at this time so attendance is mandatory for all students. Please be prepared as you may be driving on that day. Students may check the student news window by the main office regarding the program on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
Your help and cooperation is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call Dan LeClair at 399-9141, ext 83302.
