Grade 6 Orientation Moved to June 3

Dear Fifth Grade Parent/Guardian:

Despite the unusual situation we find ourselves in right now, this is still a very exciting time for your 5th grade student.  In just a few short months, your student will be in middle school! We are very excited to welcome your child to O’Rourke Middle School as a 6th grader in the fall of 2020.

We’re also eagerly anticipating the extensive renovations that are beginning at middle school.  Your child will be among the first students to experience the results of these renovations.

The support team of teachers, administrators, and counselors is looking forward to meeting parents at an upcoming orientation to answer questions and provide necessary information to you as your child gets ready to make the transition to the Middle School in September.  Because of the ongoing construction at the middle school, and the effect of the COVID-19 school building closures, we’ve changed the date and location of this meeting to Wednesday, June 3 at 7 pm at Stevens Elementary School.

This evening will include an introduction for parents to O’Rourke Middle School and an overview of the 6th grade program with presentations by 6th grade teachers, guidance counselors, PTA and a few current 6th grade students.  There will be a time for questions and answers, as well.

Please be sure to note the immunization requirements for all entering 6th grade students.

We are looking forward to meeting you.  If you have any questions, please the middle school, 518-399-9141.
