Congratulations to the O’Rourke Middle School Odyssey of the Mind (OM) team for earning first place at the OM regional tournament on Saturday, March 5.

The team began working in its OM task in October to solve the long-term problem titled “To Be Continued: A Superhero Cliffhanger.” In this problem teams worked together to create and present a humorous performance about an unexpected superhero who encounters three different situations where he or she must save creativity in some way. The performance included a clumsy sidekick, a nemesis, a choreographed battle, and a cliffhanger ending.

The OM competition also included a spontaneous component that each team participates in. The O’Rourke team had the top spontaneous score for their problem and division.

Congratulations to this year’s team members: Brooklynn Burchett, Katarina Helmeset, Juliet Hull, Carmela Jerry, Katherine Johnson, Senja Matson and Fiona Molluso.

The team will be competing in the New York State Odyssey tournament at Binghamton University on April 8.

Congratulations and good luck at the State Tournament!
