PACE Nominations Due March 25

PACE Nominations Due March 25

If you are interested in submitting a nomination to have your child considered for the district’s PACE program, please do so by Monday, March 25. The online nomination form links are below.

What is PACE?  The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake school district provides advanced programming opportunities for high ability students in grades 3 through 8.  PACE (Programs for Achieving Children’s Excellence) is a comprehensive, rigorous, and articulated series of programs designed to challenge and meet the needs of high ability students.  Students who qualify and participate in the PACE program are expected to have an exemplary work ethic and effort, along with regular homework completion and class participation.

What is the criteria for entrance into PACE?  The criteria for inclusion in PACE are a series of standardized tests, including the CogAT and NYS Math and ELA tests, along with student performance, and teacher recommendations.

How will I know if my child’s classroom teacher nominated him/her for consideration in PACE classes? Parent nominations are the first step in considering a child for PACE classes.  Following parent recommendations, classroom and subject area teachers will review the list of nominees and provide suggestions, including additional student nominations. Parents will be contacted if a student is added to the nomination list by a teacher.

When will I find out if my child has been placed in PACE classes? Over the summer, each child nominated by either a teacher or parent will receive a letter indicating final placement.

How do I nominate my child for consideration in PACE classes? Please click on the link and complete the Google Form by March 25, 2019.
