School is Open Despite Area Power Outages

We know that many homes in the community are still without power, which makes it difficult for some virtual and remote students to connect with their teachers and attend classes today. In fact, some virtual teachers are also unable to connect. Please know that we completely understand if students are unable to attend in person or remotely. All absences or tardiness will be fully excused for Thursday and Friday, Oct. 8 & 9.

We decided to open our doors because our buildings have power and heat, thus allowing our students the opportunity to charge their devices/Chromebooks and have a warm, safe place to be today. This also allows us to serve our students breakfast and lunch. If you are in need of receiving school meals at home, please contact the main office of your child’s school. We will make arrangements.

We’ve heard from several parents, but we are assuring you that Thursday and Friday’s absences or tardies will absolutely be excused. Please do not worry. We have to be flexible when unexpected situations arise.

Please stay safe and do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s school if there is anything we can do to help.
