Students, parents gave their imagination wings

Charlton Heights Elementary School art teacher Cindy Thomas-Turgeon taught students about zentangle art, and how it works with patterns and repeated designs. Together they researched examples and talked about how doodling can help some people relax and help others strengthen their listening skills. Students in each grade were assigned a colored paper feather according to the rainbow (Kindergarten = red; First grade = orange; etc.) and then got busy with black sharpies putting their research and knowledge to work! The finished feathers were attached to a winged silhouette hanging in the hallway.

At Back-to-School Night parents were encouraged to take a photo with the finished product. Take a look at these super cool photos of CHES parents on the district’s Facebook page!
