BH-BL’s Summer Driver’s Education program begins Tuesday July 5 and ends Friday August 12. It is held every weekday from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with in-car drive times every Friday  7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  (More information will be shared at the initial meeting July 5.)

Enrolled students receive 24 hours of classroom instruction, 18 hours of in-car observation and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction. Attendance at all sessions is mandatory to meet NYS time requirements. In this short time, we cannot hope to make the student an accomplished driver, so we will need your assistance in providing at least 20 hours of supervised driving time for your driver in your family vehicle. An additional 30 hours will be needed prior to obtaining their senior license at age 17. A student-driving log will be provided for you to initial at home. We require that all students have a valid New York State Learner’s Permit or Driver’s License (a copy is required with registration application). Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be issued an MV285 “Blue Card” allowing the student to obtain a senior license at age 17 and an insurance card to be presented to your insurance company to obtain any applicable premium discounts.

Please complete the online registration form by Friday, July 1, 2022.

Tuition for the course is $300 (checks only please, made payable to BH-BL Schools). Checks must be submitted to the Main Office. Students will be accepted based on their grade, seniors first, juniors next, and then by birthdates.

The first class for all students is Tuesday, July 5 at 7:30 a.m. Students will meet with the instructors at the Transportation Department classroom, located adjacent to Stevens Elementary School, 23 Lakehill Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12019, to discuss the Driver’s Education program expectations and procedures. Class assignments and the remainder of the schedule will be discussed at this time so attendance is mandatory for all students. Please be prepared as you may be driving on that day.

Your help and cooperation is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call Mr. Neil Estrada at 518-399-9141 ext. 83302.
