The Town of Ballston Community Library and BH-BL are participating in “Imagine Your Story” as part of the 2020 Summer Reading Challenge through the New York Libraries program.
It has never been more important for children to take time to continue their reading over the summer months. Studies show that even 20 minutes of reading per day can make a huge difference in the academic success of a child. Reading can also lower stress and anxiety during this difficult times.
How does the program work?
Participants keep track of the minutes they are engaged in any type of reading activity:
- Adults reading to children
- Children reading on their own
- Listening to audio books
- Reading e-books
- Reading graphic novels
- Family read-alouds
Readers log their minutes in to the online Beanstack program. After a certain number of minutes are logged, participants earn a prize or a virtual raffle ticket which can be entered into a prize drawing of their choosing.
