We were notified this weekend of three confirmed positive COVID-19 cases–two students and one staff member. These individuals were last in the high school on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Over the weekend our COVID-19 Coordinators worked with officials from the Saratoga County Department of Health to help implement contact tracing protocols. Parents have already been contacted if their children need to be placed in mandatory quarantine.
Individuals placed on mandatory quarantine are strongly encouraged to follow these quarantine guidelines from the DOH. The confirmed staff member and students are currently in quarantine for the required time and will not return to the district until cleared by the Department of Health. If you have questions regarding mandatory quarantine information or would like to talk with an individual from our local health departments, their hotline telephone numbers are: Saratoga County hotline-(518) 885-2276 Schenectady County hotline-(518) 386-2824.
This notification is part of our commitment to keep you informed during these uncertain times. However, please know that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other privacy laws restrict district officials from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. Therefore, we cannot identify by name anyone who has tested positive.
We will continue to work closely with our local Departments of Health and we will follow their guidance on how to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment. We cannot emphasize enough that we must all remain vigilant and follow the guidelines outside of school, this includes limiting group gatherings, practicing good hygiene, wearing masks and following social distance guidelines.
Please continue to conduct at-home screenings and maintain personal awareness of COVID symptoms. Visit our website or contact your child’s school principal directly if you would like more information about our health and safety procedures.
