Travel Reminder from District Health Professionals

Dear BH-BL parents and guardians,

As we approach winter break, we thought it was important to clarify a few key points in our COVID-19 protocols.

  • Household Symptomatic Contacts. If there are any individuals in your household that are having symptoms that are consistent with those associated with COVID-19 (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, stomach pain or vomiting, diarrhea), please do not send your child/children to school until that person or persons receive a negative COVID-19 test result or they are cleared by their health care provider.
  • Travel. If your family plans to travel during the school break, please review the below listed NYS travel advisory that must be followed for your child/children to return to school. The full travel advisory can be found here: NYS COVID-19 Travel Advisory
    • For travelers who were out-of-state for more than 24 hours:
      • Travelers must obtain a test within three days of departure, prior to arrival in New York.
      • The traveler must, upon arrival in New York, quarantine for three days.
      • On day four of quarantine, the traveler must obtain another COVID test. If both tests come back negative, the traveler may exit quarantine early upon receipt of the second negative diagnostic test.
  • For travelers who were out-of-state for less than 24 hours:
    • The traveler does not need a test prior to departure from the other state, and does not need to quarantine upon arrival in New York.
    • However, the traveler must fill out the NYS traveler form upon entry into New York, and take a COVID diagnostic test four days after arrival in New York.

Please do not hesitate to contact your school nurse for clarification on when your child/children can return to school following travel out of state or any other specific COVID related questions regarding your child.

We wish you all a restful winter break with your family and we thank you for your continued diligence in following the required protocols in order to keep all of our students and staff safe.

Sincerely,
