Dear BH-BL Community,
On October 9, BH-BL Superintendent Dr. Patrick McGrath announced his intent to retire at the end of the 2025-26 school year. The board thanks Dr. McGrath for his hard work, steadfast leadership and for prioritizing the students, staff and BH-BL community.
As a board, we have spent substantial time discussing our approach to finding the next leader of the district. At the November 12 board meeting, we appointed Capital Region BOCES District Superintendent Lauren Gemmill to assist with the search for our next superintendent.
BH-BL is a community committed to shared decision-making. To find the best candidates with the qualifications and experience that reflect the priorities and perspectives of all stakeholders including students, families, faculty, staff, and community members, the board, with the assistance of Ms. Gemmill, will begin the search by seeking feedback from the community. More details about community involvement in the search will be shared in the coming week, including opportunities to provide input through an online survey and a series of community forums.
