School leaders have been monitoring the Air Quality Index, which has been impacted by the wildfires in Canada. In the past, when the Air Quality Index exceeded 200 (see websites linked below), the district adjusts its outdoor activity procedures and building air handlers. Currently, this region of the state is in the “Yellow/Orange” range with values between 100 and 110.
The forecast for Thursday, July 16, calls for this region of the state to remain in the “Orange” range with a value of approximately 150.
“Right now, while we are monitoring the situation closely, our current plan is to maintain business as usual,” says Superintendent Dr. Abdoo. “With that said, should these values or other circumstances change from the current estimate, we might pivot to implement procedures that restrict outdoor activities and adjust our air handlers as appropriate.”
