Regional Art Exhibition

Congratulations to BH-BL artists:  Samuel Leone, John Matrazzo, Madeline Marcinko and Grace Apffel for having their works accepted into the High School Regional Art Exhibition at the Albany Center Gallery on Apr. 4-May 3, with a reception on Apr. 4 at 5 p.m.

Media Arts Festival Exhibit

Congratulations to High School artists whose work has been selected for the Media Arts Festival Exhibit during the month of April:  Grace Apffel, Madeline Marcinko, Silver Fisher, Autumn Rossi, Cain Sivik, Juliet Hull, Alisa Mazon, and Tia Scherer.  A reception will be held the last evening of the exhibit on May 2nd from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. at Niskayuna High School.

Attention Freshmen – Cookie Dough Information

Any Freshman who sold cookie dough should pick up their order on Wednesday, Mar. 20 immediately after school outside of the auditorium.

School Store

The School Store is now open everyday during homeroom as well as BDF days during lunch.  The store is located behind the library. The store will be selling winter hats as well as Champion sweatshirts in addition to t-shirts, lanyards, pens, greeting cards and pencils!

Looking for a part-time job?

Any student looking for a part-time job should stop by Room 201 during AAP on Wednesdays for assistance.  Please see Mrs. Szablewski the Job Assist Coordinator. Applications are available anytime in Room 201 or online at www.captaincares.org

Art Club Museum Trip

Art students and Art Club members:  There are still some spots available for the museum trip on Friday, Apr. 12.  Please turn in your forms and cash payment this week to reserve your spot.

BH-BL Friends of Music Scholarship, deadline – Mar. 15

The BH-BL Friends of Music offers a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior in recognition of achievement and participation in music while at BH-BL.  Applications are due on or before Mar. 15 at 2:20 p.m. and may be picked up in the Fine Arts Office or the Guidance Office.

Follies Auditions, Mar. 18 & 19 – deadline, Mar. 15

It’s time to GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER for the Follies.  Auditions will be Mar. 18 & 19, please sign up by Mar. 15!  Hand in forms to the main office or sign up online.

Mandatory Science Research Information Meeting, Mar. 19

Reminder that there will be a Mandatory Research Information Meeting on Tuesday, Mar. 19 at 5:15 p.m. in the Spartan LGI Center.  Interested students and a parent must attend the meeting to be considered for enrollment in the program.

Spring Job Fair, Mar. 21, Do you have your working papers?

Summer is just around the corner.  Please stop at the Counseling Center to start processing your working papers. Get a head start looking for your part-time job at out Spring Job Fair from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m. in the Upper Cafeteria.

BH-BL X-Stock, Mar. 22

BH-BL X-Stock returns with a full line up of five bands playing Friday, Mar. 22 in the black box theatre from 6:30 until 9 p.m.  A limit of 150 tickets will be sold at $5 a piece.  Buy your ticket from a X-Factor member of in Room 237.  Last years’ show sold out so do not miss your opportunity to join in the experience.

Senior Citizens Prom, Apr. 13

The Senior Citizens Prom will be held on Saturday, Apr. 13 from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria.  Refreshments will be provided and admission is free!  Please RSVP to Mr. DiAcetis at extension 83304 or email him.

5-Hour Pre-Licensing Driving Course, May 21 & 22

The 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course will be held on May 21 & 22 from 7 until 9:30 p.m. in the High School Auto Tech Room.  The fee is $40.  This course fulfills the NYS 5-hour classroom requirements for those signing up to take a road test.  People who have taken driver education and received a blue card do not have to take this course. Please contact Dacey Bonney at dbonney@bhbl.org and bring your permit to class.

Mindful Mornings on Tuesdays

Please join us for Mindful Mornings on Tuesdays at 7:20 a.m. in Room 252B for a great start to your day.

Graduation Information:

Graduation rehearsal will be held at the High School on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 10 a.m.  All graduates who plan to participate in the graduation exercises must attend the rehearsal. Rehearsal should last no more than an hour and a half.  Caps and gowns will be available in the gym that same day from 8:30 until 10 a.m.

  • Graduation will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at SPAC.  Tickets are not required.
  • Stop in at Mail & More on Route 50, Burnt Hills to order your graduation invitations.

Athletic News

Rowing Team Results

Congratulations to – Sarah Bedore, Allison LeClair, Nathan Balenski, Christopher Ryan, Nathan Friedman, Ryan Grandy, Dan Dedon and Kieran Stone whose Rowing Team participated in the Mohawk Meltdown Indoor Regatta this past weekend.  Nathan Friedman and Ryan Grandy both placed 2nd in their events!  Join them for the start of the spring rowing season.

Counseling Center

Volunteers Needed – Charlton Heights Science Fair, Mar. 21

Volunteers are needed to help at the Charlton Heights Science Fair on Mar. 21.  Volunteers will help with set up for the evening as well as interact with the elementary students and view their projects.  The evening runs from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. and students will receive volunteer hours.  Please see Mr. Collins in Room 225 or Mr. Watts in Room S24 if you are interested in helping out.

Attention Juniors – SAT Review begins Mar. 19

BH-BL is offering a SAT Review course beginning Mar. 19.  It will be held from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays & Thursdays.  The cost is $70 and registration is at the Main Office.  Sign up before it’s closed out!

Attention Sophomores and Juniors

Interested in applying for the Naval Academy?  Our local Blue and Gold Officer will be offering an information session at BH-BL on the process of preparing for a Naval Academy application.  It is very important to having an early awareness of what the Naval Academy looks for in its applicants.  If interested in a Naval Academy information session, please let your guidance counselor know as soon as possible.
