Congratulations to Hannah Shell who has been named a semi-finalist in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, the oldest and most prestigious STEM competition in the country. If named as one of the 40 finalists, Hannah will receive a minimum of $25,000 with a potential of winning the top prize of $250,000. Congratulations and good luck Hannah.

NYSSMA Instrumental Jazz/Vocal Festival, deadline – Mar. 11
Student musicians are invited to apply for participation in different NYSSMA Solo Festivals, scheduled for the Spring. The NYSSMA Instrumental Jazz/Vocal Jazz Festival (Schenectady County Community College – May 29-30) deadline for the application is Wednesday, Mar. 11. Information and applications are available in the High School Fine Arts Office, the Middle School Music Office, and from your school Music Teacher.
Spring Driver Education, deadline – Jan. 23
Applications are being accepted for Spring Driver Education. The application for the course must be completed by a parent/guardian and submitted by Jan. 23. Students should bring a $300 check (made payable to the BH-BL Schools) to the opening meeting on Jan. 27 at 2:30 p.m. in the Library. The session will run from Jan. 27 through Jun. 12.

Coaches vs. Cancer Basketball Game, Jan. 24
The Burnt Hills High School Boys Basketball teams will be hosting the Coaches vs. Cancer night at the High School against Guiderland on Friday, Jan. 24. The Freshman game is at 4 p.m., JV starts at 5:30 p.m. and Varsity plays at 7 p.m. Come out and support your Spartans as they raise money for The American Cancer Society to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer.

Join the Rowing Team for Workout Sessions
Joint the rowing team for indoor winter workout session at the boathouse! $150.00 from Monday, Jan. 20 to Friday, Mar. 6 (Monday-Friday 3:30-5:30 p.m.). Possible carpooling from the high school to the middle school. This is a great way to stay in shape or prepare for Spring Crew. No prior experience is necessary. Counseling Center News
The American Legion Auxiliary is looking for Empire Girls State applicants for the June 28 to July 4 week held at The College at Brockport. This program is a leadership action program where female high school juniors participate in an objective citizenship training program which instills individual responsibility to the community, state, and nation. Applications are due no later than Tuesday, Jan. 28. Please see someone in the Counseling Center for an application and more information.
