Arts Fest Reminder

Reminder to all Junior and Senior Art Students who are putting up an Arts Fest display:  Set up day is Tuesday, May 21.  Bring all of your work and display materials to the Auditorium Lobby during your scheduled set up time.  Your set up must be complete by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Arts Fest is here!

Please visit the Arts Fest to see the artwork of our talented junior and senior art students in the high school auditorium lobby and STEAM addition.  The Art Show will take place on Wednesday, May 22 from 8 until 2 p.m.   There will be musical performances in the auditorium during blocks 1, 2 and 3.

Science Research Symposium, May 22

Please join us for the Annual Science Research Symposium on Wednesday, May 22nd at 7 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria.  All research students will be presenting their research over the past year.  Hope to see you there.

There will be no Activity Period on Thursday, May 23rd!

31st Annual BOCES Student Art School through May 24

Way to go, High School students Christopher McDaid, Amber McEvoy, and Catherine Nichols whose work will be on display at the 31st Annual BOCES Student Art Show through May 24th.

School Store

The School Store is now open everyday during homeroom as well as BDF days during lunch.  The store is located behind the library. The store will be selling winter hats as well as Champion sweatshirts in addition to t-shirts, lanyards, pens, greeting cards and pencils!

Looking for a part-time job?

Any student looking for a part-time job should stop by Room 201 during AAP on Wednesdays for assistance.  Please see Mrs. Szablewski the Job Assist Coordinator.  Applications are available anytime in Room 201.

Looking for a summer job and enjoy working with children?

Apply to be a summer camp counselor for the BH-BL Summer Recreation Program.  For an application, stop by the Counseling Center or visit Job Assist in Room 201 during AAP on Wednesdays!

5-Hour Pre-Licensing Driving Course, May 21 & 22

The 5-Hour Pre-Licensing Course will be held on May 21 & 22 from 7 until 9:30 p.m. in the High School Auto Tech Room.  The fee is $40.  This course fulfills the NYS 5-hour classroom requirements for those signing up to take a road test.  People who have taken driver education and received a blue card do not have to take this course. Please contact Dacey Bonney at dbonney@bhbl.org and bring your permit to class.

Italy/Greece Trip, Deadline – May 31

Anyone interested in the Italy/Greece trip next Spring Break should see Mr. Turner in Room 235.  The deadline is May 31st and there are only 6 spots left.

Summer Driver Education, Deadline – June 6

Summer Driver Education applications are available online on the High School page.  Applications must be completed by a parent/guardian and submitted by Thursday, June 6th.  Students must bring a check (made payable to BH-BL Schools) along with their permit/license to the Main Office.  The program will run from July 1 through August 9.

Mindful Mornings on Tuesdays

Please join us for Mindful Mornings on Tuesdays at 7:20 a.m. in Room 252B for a great start to your day.

Graduation Information:

Graduation rehearsal will be held at the High School on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 10 a.m.  All graduates who plan to participate in the graduation exercises must attend the rehearsal. Rehearsal should last no more than an hour and a half.  Caps and gowns will be available in the gym that same day from 8:30 until 10 a.m.

  • Graduation will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at SPAC.  Tickets are not required.
  • Stop in at Mail & More on Route 50, Burnt Hills to order your graduation invitations.

Athletic News

BH Rowing Information

Congratulations to the rowing team on their medals at the Chargers Invitational in Syracuse.  The girls freshmen eight and boys lightweight eight placed first and earned gold medals.  The girls senior double and girls junior four placed 3rd earning bronze medals.  The boys junior four placed 6th and the boys senior doubles placed 7th, 8th, and 11th.

Congratulations to the rowing team who competed at State Championships.  The girls freshmen quad of Sarah Kate Bedore, Lauren Schuhl, Katrina Newell, and Allison LeClair earned bronze medals.  Competitive finishes of 4th-14th place for the other Burnt Hills boats.

Burnt Hills Cheerleading Conditioning/Open Gym on Tuesdays

Burnt Hills Cheerleading will be holding cheer conditioning/open gym classes every Tuesday from Apr. 30 through May 21 in the Middle School Back Gym from 3:45 until 5:30 p.m.

Boys JV & Varsity Soccer Mandatory Meeting, May 28

There will be a boys JV & Varsity Mandatory Soccer Meeting on Tuesday, May 28th at 2:45 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria.  Training expectations, summer and fall schedules and paperwork will be reviewed.

Girls Volleyball Interest Meeting, May 30

There will be a meeting for all girls interested in playing girls volleyball on Thursday, May 30th at 2:40 p.m. in the high school gym.  Please contact Coach Bynon with questions.

PRIDE, May 21 & June 4

PRIDE will hold meetings during AAP on Tuesday, May 21 & June 4 in Room 234.

LTP, May 21 – $2 Ice Cream Sundaes

LTP will be selling ice cream sundaes during AAP on Tuesday, May 21 in the lower cafeteria.  Bring $2 and make your own sundae!

Art Club, May 22

Art Club will hold its final meeting on Wednesday, May 22 during AAP in Room 163.  There will be a party and elections will be held.  Please bring a snack to share!

Interact Club, May 28 & June 11

Interact Club will hold meetings during AAP on Tuesday, May 28 & June 11 in Room 234.

 


Counseling Center

Stevens Elementary Spring Fling, May 31

Stevens Elementary is looking for volunteers to help with their Spring Fling on Friday, May 31 from 3 until 8 p.m.  Volunteers are needed to help with set up, games, face painting and clean up.  Interested students can find additional information on the Volunteer Board in the Counseling Center and should contact Joan LaBuff (ladylabuff@gmail.com).

STRIDE Adaptive Sports – Volunteers Needed

Looking to start your summer off helping others?  Then give your time assisting with STRIDE Adaptive Sports at Union College!  From June 26th through June 28th, STRIDE will be offering a camp to help students with special needs how to ride bicycles and they are in need of volunteers.  Interested students can find more information posted on the volunteer board in the counseling center.
