Best Communities for Music Education

Congratulations to BH-BL Students, Staff, Administration, Community, Board of Education, and Music Department on being one of approximately 700 school districts nationwide to be named “Best Communities for Music Education”!  This is the 10th year in a row BH-BL has received this distinction.

Purchase Your Yearbook

Yearbooks will be delivered the second week of June.  Purchase your book online at yearbookforever.com to ensure you get your yearbook before they sell out!  A limited amount of books will be available after delivery.

Burnt Hills Cheerleading Open Gym – every Tuesday starting Apr. 26-May 31

Burnt Hills Cheerleading will be holding Conditioning/Open Gyms every Tuesday starting Apr. 26-May 31 in the Middle School Front Gym from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m.

Virtual Bake Sale through May 31

A Virtual Bake Sale is being held to raise money to donate to Street Soldiers!  The flier can be found here Link.  You can scan the QR code for the order form and to find out more information.

X-Stock, June 3

X-Stock returns to the Blackbox Theatre this year on Friday, June 3rd.  $5 tickets are being sold in Room 237 or look for the table in the cafeteria during lunch.  A limit of 125 tickets will be sold so get your ticket before they are gone.  Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the first band to take the stage at 6:30 p.m.  X-Stock is more than a concert, it’s an event!

Volunteers needed for the Town of Charlton Party in the Park & Fireworks – June 4

The Town of Charlton is looking for volunteers to help with their annual Party in the Park & Fireworks on Saturday, June 4th.  They are in need of people who can supervise children playing on the inflatable climbing wall/obstacle course.  Coverage is needed from 4-8 p.m.  Students can find additional details posted on the volunteer board in the counseling center.

Kona Ice Truck – June 7

The Kona Ice Truck is coming to the High School on Tuesday, June 7 from 2-4 p.m. and will be parked outside the lower cafeteria.  Treat yourself to Kona Ice and support the High School Book Club!

Seniors to Sing at SPAC Ceremony

Attention seniors:  Mrs. Derrick is looking for any seniors who have singing ability that would like to be part of the graduation song that Choir Seniors sing at the SPAC ceremony.  Please see Mrs. Derrick directly for an informal voice placement audition.  (The Chorus Room is right around the corner from the Math hallway).

Spartan Wellness: Wednesdays 3:30-4:30 p.m.

If you are interested in taking a yoga class, Spartan Wellness is offering yoga from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Wednesdays in the Library.  No previous experience in yoga is needed and yoga mats can be provided if you need one.  Bring a friend (or come solo) and enjoy a relaxing mindful experience.  Mrs. Perkins is leading this awesome class!  You will need a ride to pick you up at 4:40 p.m. if you decide to attend.

In-Person Meditation Every Wednesday

In-person meditation has started again, (with Google Meet as well) at 7:20 a.m. in Room 121.  If you are interested, come to Room 121 or email Mrs. Sammons at dsammons@bhbl.org for the link.

Job Assist

Interested in finding a part-time job, apply via this Captain/Community Services Link.  Mrs. Szablewski (mszablewski@bhbl.org), the Job Assist Coordinator, will then contact you.  Many part time jobs are available but you will need your working papers to work.  Please see the Counseling Center for more information.

Student Chromebook Help Center

The Chromebook Help Center is located in the High School Tech Office in the back left corner of the Library.  Office hours are from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.  Please contact Mrs. Zarnofsky (szarnofsky@bhbl.org) with any questions or concerns regarding your chromebook, Google account or eSchool.  Additional information is available at the Link.

Student Fees/Parking Tags

Fees must be paid to the main office in the baskets provided:  in a sealed envelope including cash/check, name, subject and teacher.  Receipts will be given to the appropriate teacher and any student needing a receipt/tag will be contacted via email to pick them up.

RISE Club every Tuesday

International Club every Tuesday through Thursday, 4/6 next meeting!

Anyone who would like to help the International Club make ribbons to raise money for Ukrainian refugees, please join the group in Room 243 during AAP Tuesday through Thursday.

Board Game (Go) Club every Wednesday

Every Wednesday in Room 216, (Class Code: fouv54n) “Go” is the ultimate ancient board, and is prevalent among top universities like Princeton, Harvard, MIT, and Cornell, for “Go” provides a great opportunity to train people’s intelligence and strategic thinking.  After a long day of staring at electronic screens, many students and teachers can relax and recreate, not on smartphones, but in this board game of over four-thousand years of human wisdom and delight.

Interact will hold a meeting during AAP in Room 234.

Drama Club – May 25

Drama Club will have a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, May 25 during AAP in the Chorus Room.  Please attend to hear speeches from those running for officer positions for next year.

All Scholarship information and applications are available on your “Class of 2022 – Counseling Center Information” Google Classroom under “Classwork”.  Scholarships are continually being updated and added, so check back often.  Additionally, scholarships can be researched via your Naviance account.  Please see or email the Counseling Center with any questions.
