Charlton Heights Student Honored by Assemblywoman MaryBeth Walsh

On Friday, June 20, Assemblywoman MaryBeth Walsh visited Charlton Heights Elementary School to recognize fifth-grade student Michael Caisse. Michael was the winner of the Saratoga County “There Ought to Be a Law” essay contest, selected from over 200 entries.

Assemblywoman Walsh presented Michael with a $100 first prize for his persuasive essay. His essay proposed a law that would mandate a button on GPS applications to display the location of the nearest hospital for quick reference in an emergency.

During her visit, Assemblywoman Walsh fielded a wide range of questions from the fifth grade class. She explained the process of passing a bill and extended an invitation for students to visit her at the Capitol. She told the 5th graders that Charlton Heights holds special significance for her as both of her sons attended the school.
