This position involves routine clerical responsibility for maintaining financial accounts and records through the application of standardized account keeping practices. Assignments may require assisting in more difficult and responsible phases of the work. This position may be responsible for utilizing a micro-computer, remote computer terminal or similar computer equipment in the performance of daily work-related tasks. Work is performed under direct supervision. The incumbent does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities:

  • Posts to journal or ledger accounts from appropriation, expense, invoices, payroll, receipts, voucher records and other original entry media;
  • Receives remittances by mail or in person, verifies amount, computes interest and penalties and posts to book of original entry;
  • Assists in maintaining labor, material and operational cost records;
  • Assists in verifying and reconciling account balances according to a prescribed procedure;
  • Helps to review and check routine account keeping records and reports for arithmetical and clerical accuracy, completeness and proper extension;

Account Clerk Typist

This position involves applying routine clerical and typing duties to the maintenance of financial accounts and records through the application of standardized account keeping practices. This position differs from that of Account Clerk because it involves performing a variety of work-related typing tasks. This position may be responsible for utilizing a micro-computer, word processing equipment, remote computer terminal or similar computer equipment in the performance of daily work related tasks. Work is performed under direct supervision. The incumbent does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities:

Automotive Mechanic

This is skilled work involving responsibility for efficient performance of a variety of vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance tasks. Direct supervision is received from a higher level employee, permitting considerable leeway for planning the details of each assignment. Direct supervision may be exercised over the work of Automotive Mechanic Helpers, Garage Attendants, laborers, or other subordinate employees. Incumbent does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities

  • Performs skilled operations in making general repairs on gasoline, alternative fuel, and diesel motor equipment such as trucks, passenger cars, tractors, motorcycles, power shovels, graders and bulldozers;
  • Removes, disassembles, repairs and assembles components of automotive transmissions, both standard and automatic;
  • Grinds valves and fits new bearings, pistons and rings;
  • Repairs or replaces water pumps, fuel pumps, generators, shock absorbers and distributors;
  • Adjusts connecting rods and bearings;
  • Assembles, times, and tunes engines;
    Performs diagnostic analysis to determine repairs to, or replacement of, vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment;
  • Trouble shoots and makes repairs to automotive air conditioning systems;
  • Repairs or overhauls ignition systems, brakes, differentials, carburetors,clutches, transmissions and front and rear axles;
  • Straightens and welds frames and fenders, and performs body straightening and repairs;
  • Adjusts steering mechanisms and aligns wheels;
  • Operates machine shop equipment, including lathes, grinders, drill presses, and other metal working machines to make and repair parts for automotive equipment;
  • Makes repair estimates and prepares requisitions for materials and parts for both mechanical and body repairs;
  • Operates electronic analyzing equipment for the diagnosing and repair of all motor equipment and uses personal computer software as appropriate;
  • Checks automotive equipment for damaged, worn or defective parts by visual inspection, road tests and testing devices and makes or prescribes necessary repairs or replacements;

  • Completion of a two-year automotive repair course and three years of experience as outlined in (A) above; OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.

Special Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License with endorsements required by the department where position exists at time of appointment.
  • Possession of a valid New York State Motor Vehicle Inspector’s License for automobiles and heavy trucks within 120 days of appointment.

Automotive Mechanic Supervisor

This is skilled work involving responsibility for leading in and performing, in an efficient manner, a variety of automotive repair and maintenance tasks.  The work is performed under general supervision allowing considerable discretion in planning and scheduling the work of subordinates. Direct supervision is exercised over the work of Automotive Mechanics and a variety of subordinate staff.  Incumbent does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities:

  • Leads in and performs skilled operations in making general repairs on gasoline and diesel motor equipment such as school buses, trucks, passenger cars, tractors, motorcycles, power shovels, graders and bulldozers;
  • Checks automotive equipment for worn, damaged, or defective parts by visual inspection, road test and testing devices and makes or prescribes necessary repairs or replacements
  • Leads in and performs the more difficult body and engine repair, overhaul and rebuilding;
  • Orders parts, gas, oil and miscellaneous items;
  • Instructs assistants in the proper methods of repairing and adjusting bodies, engines and accessories;
  • Keeps records of maintenance and oil and gas consumption;

Bus Driver/Cleaner

Classification: Non-Competitive 

The work involves responsibility for performance of routine manual work requiring efficient performance of building cleaning tasks and responsible for operating a bus on an assigned route and may perform minor maintenance tasks. The work requires thorough execution of tasks following a well established procedure. While operating a vehicle the operator is responsible for the safety of the passengers, adherence to schedules and cleanliness of the vehicle inside and out. The work is performed under general supervision with considerable leeway allowed the operator in carrying out the details of the work. The incumbent does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities

Cleaner

This is routine work requiring the efficient performance of a variety of cleaning tasks. The work involves execution of these tasks through a well established routine. Direct supervision is received from a higher level supervisor. The incumbent does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities

  • Dusts chairs, tables desks and other furniture;
  • Washes windows, walls, woodwork, toilets and sinks;
  • Sweeps, mops, vacuums and waxes floors with various equipment designed for those purposes;
  • Gathers and disposes of refuse;
  • Cleans and polishes furniture;
  • Performs a variety of routine errands and cleaning tasks;
  • Performs a variety of related duties as required;
  • May use a district motor vehicle as assigned.

When Assigned to a School District

  • May clean blackboards and erasers;
  • May monitor rest rooms and report violations of non-smoking policy;
  • May use a district motor vehicle as assigned.

Computer Technician

Objective

To exchange the use of District resources by students and staff by effectively responding to repairs and installation of computers and related equipment.

Scope

  1. The Instructional Technology Facilitator is responsible to the District Instructional Technology Coordinator.
  2. The Instructional Technology Facilitator will assist District teachers and instructional staff with preparation of current instructional technology information to District staff via Newsletters, e-mail, web pages, etc.
  3. The Instructional Technology Facilitator will assist District teachers and instructional staff with the preparation, data input and updates to District web pages.
  4. The Instructional Technology Facilitator will assist with the training and support of instructional staff in the use of technology for their professional and classroom use.
  5. The Instructional Technology Facilitator will coordinate activities as necessary with District administrative technology coordinator, District maintenance staff and BOCES.
  6. The general qualifications of the Instructional Technology Facilitator include:
  • At least two (2) years experience working in a networked, instructional
  • Familiarity with Local and Wide Area Networks; file servers, print servers, etc.
  • Familiarity with internet – Intranet concepts and components; Mail servers, ftp servers, etc.Must qualify for New York State teacher assistant certification.

Responsibilities

  1. Troubleshoot, isolate and identify instructional hardware/network problems and facilitate their resolution.
  2. Install instructional hardware/software and resolve installation related problems.
  3. Prepare data input and updates (users and groups setup, etc.) to District file servers.
  4. Prepare data input and updates to District Databases (technology inventory, etc.)
  5. Locate, download and install software updates as needed.
  6. Coordinate instructional network security.
  7. Inform the District Instructional Technology Coordinator of activities and problems related to instructional technology.

Custodian

This is routine manual work involving responsibility for the efficient and economical performance of semi-skilled cleaning and maintenance tasks for municipal buildings, grounds, and equipment. Work is performed under the general supervision of a superior in accordance with established policies, but considerable leeway is permitted for the exercise of independent judgment. General supervision may be exercised over the work of subordinate cleaning or maintenance personnel. Does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities

  • Paints rooms and equipment, repairs furniture and makes minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry repairs;

Dispatcher

This position involves responsibility for the dispatching of school buses and drivers in the school district. The incumbent assists in the planning and scheduling of bus routes and the assigning of School Bus Drivers. General supervision is received from a Transportation Supervisor or other designated official. Does related work as required.

Typical Work Activities

  • Operates radio telephone equipment in the dispatching of drivers and buses on regularly assigned daily routes;
  • Assigns substitute bus drivers to replace absent regular drivers;
  • Assists Transportation Supervisor in planning bus routes and assigning drivers;
  • Arranges for the pick-up and repair of disabled buses;
  • Schedules bus drivers for field trips, sporting events and special activities;
  • Reviews daily tachographs for all bus runs;
  • Schedules staff meetings with bus drivers as needed;
  • Recommends bus route changes for the consideration of Transportation Supervisor;
  • Works with the Transportation Supervisor on the development of shuttle routes;
  • Assists in resolving grievances brought by bus drivers;
  • Assists in handling complaints from bus drivers, parents and students in regard to bus routes and schedules;
  • Completes and files daily reports on bus route activities;

Elementary Administrative Assistant

The Elementary Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to the Principal and assists with overseeing key student processes and routines at the elementary school level. This is a highly visible role requiring strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and coordinates all lunch room operations and routines
  • Performs daily lunch and recess supervision
  • Oversees playground/lunchroom monitors and processes
  • Oversees bus procedures for student arrival and dismissal
  • Handles routine student discipline issues including contacting parents

Executive Secretary I

This position involves responsibility for performing a variety of complex and confidential secretarial duties for a department head. An incumbent in this position is responsible for typing letters, reports and other confidential materials, and relieving the department head of administrative details by arranging conferences and contacts.   • Advises parents, teachers, counselors or principal about potential or actual student problems concerning class-cutting, truancy, disciplinary problems or other school or personal problems;
  • May supervise the loading of buses and follows buses along their assigned routes or on field trips to make sure no discipline problems develop;

This position is responsible for providing staff support duties for a school district transportation department.
