Knapik Named a 2026 Capital District Sports Women of the Year

Congratulations to BH-BL High School senior Addisyn Knapik for being namedstudent hitting an orange ball with a field hockey stick one of the 10 scholastic award recipients for 2026 by the Capital District Sports Women of the Year organization.

Addisyn, who competes in field hockey and softball, is being recognized at the Capital District Sports Women of the Year Awards Gala on Monday, August 3.

The Capital District Sports Women of the Year organization (CDSWOY) honors the best and brightest female student athletes from high schools and colleges in the Capital District of New York State. The student-athletes will be recognized for their achievements in academics, athletics, and community service.

Academically, Addisyn had a 97.9 GPA and ranked seventh in a senior class of 237 students. She is a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Math, Science and World Language Honors Societies. She was a five-time scholar-athlete for both field hockey and softball. Addisyn made the Principal’s Honor Roll all four years at BH-BL and was a class vice president. She will attend Binghamton University tostudy engineering and play NCAA Division I softball.

student in uniform throwing a softballAthletically, Addisyn was a five-time Suburban Council field hockey all-star, including a first team selection three times. She also made the All-State field hockey team. She played for three state champions and four section champions. Addisyn was a four-time Albany Times Union field hockey all-star and made the state all-tournament team. Addisyn was all-state in softball twice, including once on the first team, and played on two sectional champion teams as well as a state championship team. The Times Union also selected her twice to the softball all-star team. Addisyn played for two sectional softball championship teams.

Addisyn’s community service includes assisting at a science demo day and science fair and serving as an elementary school summer classroom assistant. She works with field hockey youth and was a coach for the Charlton Heights Chuck and Duck Dodgeball Tournament.

Addisyn becomes the third BH-BL High School student-athlete selected by CDSWOY. She joins Carlie Rzeszotarski (2022) and Allie O’Rourke (2025).
