No ‘bones’ about it, these students are having fun at Capital Region BOCES
Aspiring cosmetologists had a little fun with their latest “customer” at Capital Region BOCES this week, but alas, no ‘bone-us’ points were added for their work.
BH-BL High School junior Emma Williams and her BCOES classmates tended to Mr. Bones this week in the Cosmetology program at the Career and Technical Education Center – Albany Campus.
While staff aren’t sure of the style Mr. Bones sought, we know there were no complaints and who got the credit because the cut never became a “bone of contention” amongst the scholars.
Nonetheless, the trio’s laughs were short-lived and their scholarly pursuits soon resumed on more talkative—and hairy—customers in the cosmetology labs.
Offered at the Schoharie and Albany CTE campuses, the two-year Cosmetology program provides nearly 200 students with 1,000 hours of training and experience in preparation for the New York state licensure exam. The experience prepares students to enter the workforce upon graduation or to go to college and have a leg up on future business competitors.
“I love the program because it helps you get the hours you need for licensing before you even graduate high school,” said a Cosmetology student.
