K-5 Half Day of School for Solar Eclipse, April 8
Be sure to wear appropriate viewing glasses
Due to the historic solar eclipse that will impact a large part of the country, the BH-BL administration has switched the K-5 half day of school from the originally scheduled April 25 to Monday, April 8. (Thursday, April 25 will remain a half day of school for 6-12, only.) A friendly reminder that if you and your children choose to view the solar eclipse that you use appropriate glasses that have been approved for solar viewing. SEPTA Fundraiser Ends April 19
It’s time to restock your Saratoga Olive Oil supplies! Choose from olive oil, vinegars, sea salts, and even gift boxes. The fundraiser supports the Special Needs Expo (Saturday, March 23) and other SEPTA programs. Click here to place your order online until April 19. Special Needs Expo, April 20
The Special Needs Expo is Saturday, April 20 from 11 am to 2 pm at O’Rourke Middle School. There will be businesses, organizations and service providers from all over the Capital Region showcasing their offerings. Questions? Contact Carolyn Huston at bhblsepta.expo@yahoo.com.

Senior Community Prom, April 27
Get out your dancing shoes and end on over to the senior citizen prom on Saturday, April 27 from 5:30-8:30 in the BH-BL Cafeteria. Admission is free! Please RSVP by April 17 to High School Assistant Principal Tom DiAcetis at tdiacetis@bhbl.org or 518-399-9141,  ext. 83304.

Calendar Update for May 23
Please mark your calendars to reflect that Thursday, May 23, 2024 could possibly be a day off from school. Currently, BH-BL has not used any snow/emergency closure days in the 2023-24 school year. If BH-BL uses 0 or 1 snow/emergency closure days, Thursday, May 23 will be the day identified as the “Contingency Day” and school will be closed that day, extending the Memorial Day weekend. Memorial Day weekend currently includes no school on Friday, May 24. We will continue to keep you updated.

Interested in running for a seat on the board?
There are two terms on the BH-BL Board of Education that will expire June 30, 2024. If you are interested in running for a 3-year term, please contact Board Clerk Tara Mitchell (tmitchell@bhbl.org) to obtain a candidacy packet, which includes a Petition for Nomination, candidate biographical information (for newsletter) and guidelines for candidate position statement (for newsletter).Petitions are due no later than 5 pm on Monday, April 22. Summer Rec Registration is OPEN!
I know it doesn’t feel like summer is around the corner, but planning for it is! BH-BL Summer Recreation online registration is open on the rec’s website: (bhblsummerrec.com/).
