Smart Schools Investment Plan update

Smart Schools Investment Plan update (January 2020)

BH-BL continues to draw upon the funds made available by the Smart Schools Investment Plan, a NYS program aimed at helping NYS schools modernize their technology equipment and network infrastructure and security practices. Most of our funds to date have been used to support the enhancement of our network and the purchase of one-to-one laptops for our students. At this time all five of our schools have a robust, state-of-the-art high speed wireless network. Grades K-2 have class sets of laptops for each grade level in all three buildings. Student in grades 3-12 have each been issued their own laptop. We have purchased all of the laptops on a rolling basis and we have a sustainable plan for replacing them when their 6-year life cycle is complete.

To date, the district has received $1,284,679 of the $1,900,404 allocated. The approved plans that describe the use of this funding can be found here.

Smart Schools Investment Plan update (November 2016)

As BH-BL heads into the second year of the Smart Schools Investment Plan, which is aimed at helping NYS schools modernize their technology equipment and network infrastructure and security practices, a few changes were made to the original technology plan submitted to the state. The board plans to approve the latest tech plan changes at its December meeting. At this point, the district has used nearly $618,000 of the $1.9 million allocated from the state for major network infrastructure upgrades at the middle and high schools (LAN, wireless, management).
