SNN Email & Text System To Be Replaced

We have been informed that School News Notifier (SNN) will no longer be supported and therefore will be taken offline at the close of business on June 30, 2021. At that time we will not be able to send SNN messages (via text or email) using this system. (You do not need to go into the system to remove your email or cell phone number. It will all be erased.)

BH-BL has been using SNN to communicate with parents and the community at large since it’s inception many years ago. This system has allowed us to send emails to anyone who signed up. A few years after SNN’s inception, we were able to send text messages, again to those who signed up, about snow closings/delays or other emergencies (only). However, the SNN application has reached its limit and today’s technology can not support it. (For example, we were limited to 125 characters in a text message, we could no longer attach files, and many cell phone carriers were unable to unblock mass text messages resulting in many people not getting the school closing/delay messages.)

This summer we will research new mass notifications systems that are more efficient and robust, and that will allow us to remain digitally connected to our community. (I.e., “Headlines and Happenings.”) We hope to transition to a new system early next school year.

In the meantime, we do have an internal ListServ that allows us to remain connected to parents of current students within the district. Those of you who receive SNN and are NOT current parents of BH-BL students, we urge you to check our website frequently  and our Facebook page. We will continue to share information and news through those channels while we implement a new notification system for our community.
