Transportation Letters In Mailboxes, New GPS App Coming Soon

Summer is winding down which means things are gearing up for school staff, including the transportation department staff who are finalizing bus routes and preparing their back-to-school letters to parents. The annual letter includes information about your child’s bus route, bus symbol, bus driver, and pick-up and drop-off times. Please pay particular attention to the information in this year’s letter because it will likely be different from last year. And that’s because BH-BL is using a new transportation system that helps the district identify more efficient bus routes and decrease aggregate ride times for students.

Additionally, the new interactive transportation system also supports an app that lets parents/guardians have instant access to their children’s transportation information and real-time GPS tracking. This means they’ll be able to see for themselves the ETA of their student’s bus, which can be particularly helpful if there is an unexpected traffic or weather-related delay that could impact drop off times.

The district is anticipating the rollout of the app service in late fall, so stay tuned for more information.

As always, feel free to contact the Transportation Department at 518-399-9141, Ext. 83524.
